Lowe's Field Trip

This past Friday I went again on Isabella's field trip. This one

was much more fun! We went to Lowe's where they each built a bird house! It

sure was loud in there with all 50+ kids hammering their house on

plastic tables. They had a great time.

Isabella came right home and started painting her house.
Afterwards we went to a nearby park for a picnic.

Updates

I know a lot of you that read my blog already know the Durkee's and what's going on in their lives..but for those of you that don't, will you pray for them!? This was my first week not working and it was a busy one. Which is good on one hand because I wouldn't know what do to with myself otherwise. Tuesday and Friday I went on 2 field trips with Isabella. I already posted about the first. I'll write later about the other..But they were both good days. I enjoyed being able to spend time with her and seeing her interact with the other kids in her class, and meeting all her friends.

It was also good to be off this week because I've been sick nearly all week. I've got such horrible allergies anyway...but this year has been the worst by far. The pollen count this year has been off the charts. They say 10 times worse than ever. Isabella has allergies already and Chris has developed adult allergies and we've all been coughing for at least a month. Isabella's pushed her into a sinus infection a couple weeks ago. Chris is on the verge weekly. And I got it this past weekend after loosing my voice for 2 days. It's just not fun! I've become immune to all the over the counter drugs except for Zyrtec and I'm on the verge of it not doing much anymore. Next is prescription stuff or shots and I really don't want to get to that....
So frustrating. If everything would just bloom already things would calm down a bit!

This little boy-Dylan, asked me if I liked dip.

I said "yea of course I do"..(thinking

it's pretty good for veggies and chips)

He said 'NO! Like the kind you put in your mouth"

and he showed me exactly where.

I said "Oh that kind! No way, it's gross".

He said "No it isn't! I have some at home"

A 5 year old. Shocking.

Today I joined Isabella's class as we went to a planetarium and lego lab at the nearby N High School. We boarded the buses at 9am this morning and headed out. We chose the very back seat of the bus, because of course when I was in school this is where the cool kids sat! Me, Isabella and her friend Justin in the last row and I'll tell you what, my back and head still hurt from all the bumps we hit on 471. At first the bumps were fun, for the kids anyway. They all decided they like the small bumps and medium bumps best. Though after about 15m of this they kept looking at me saying, "we should have sat up front". "My head hurts, when are the bumps going to stop!" Little Justin there in the picture, took a liking to me for some reason, he talked our ears off half the way there...luckily he calmed down a bit (or maybe it was the bumps giving him a headache!). Thus far Isabella has been the only 'talker' I've met! Until this boy...he's her match in that way.

Once we got to the N High School we divided up and half the children went to the planetarium...we were in that group. It was pretty cool. Though I was picturing one of those domes that open up into the sky with telescopes....(even though it was daylight). This room did have a large dome over head and they shined all kinds of pictures of the sun, moon and stars above...telling the kids all about them. I don't ever remember learning this much about the solar system in Kindergarten do you? They said though that the new standard next year for Kindergartner's will be that they know phases of the moon (amongst other things). We were in the planetarium for at least an hour and a half, a bit long for 5 and 6 year olds if you ask me!

Next we headed off to the lego lab, again I wasn't picturing what I saw. I envisioned a large room filled with nothing but legos. For building whatever you wanted! Not the case. They had maybe 12 tables set up with different pre-assembled 'machines' that the kids were to take apart and rebuild. This went well for maybe a 1/2 hour. The lady leading the class was getting quite irritated with their attention span..she needs to learn. I guess she doesn't have a Kindergartner at home! Around noon the complaints about aching bellies were starting and we started heading back to school at 1230. The kids all seemed to have a great time, mostly just taking a bus ride somewhere different with eachother. It was pretty fun to be with Isabella and see her interact with the other kids.

I'm sure enjoying my first week being home with the girls...mostly because I can be apart of things like this.
